We told you on Tuesday that Saint Martin Parish sheriff's officials are revisiting a 1982 cold case, after learning that convicted killer Robert Charles Browne claimed to have killed more than a dozen people in Louisiana.

"We are hoping that we are able to identify this female victim," says Captain Ginny Higgins of the Saint Martin Parish Sheriff's Department.

The department says they are hoping to maybe identify a suspect.

Investigators have a sketch of the unidentified woman who's skeletal remains were found by hunters in a wooded area off Highway 70 near Stephensville.

The sheriff's department also tells TV-3, there was jewelry found with the remains. Two rings, one a 3 stone engagement ring and the other a gold ring with an emerald stone, an intersting pendent with a bull and a star and a medical id necklace showing that "Jane Doe" was a diabetic was also found. She was wearing a western style green plaid shirt.

Investigators say, there aren't very many details in the case file but they remain hopeful.

"With all of the forensic technology available, we'll be able to utilize that to try to help solve this case," Higgins says.

The Saint Martin sheriff's office says the victim suffered a severe facial injury shortly before her death.

The department never received a missing persons report and says she may have been visiting the area.

Bottomline, the Saint Martin Parish Sheriff's Department says, whether this homicide is connected to Robert Charles Browne or someone in the area remembers any details, they are hoping to close this case so the victim can finally rest.

Investigators say they are attempting to get the skeletal remains, which were originally sent to a New Orleans lab, returned to Saint Martin parish. If and when they do, those remains could be sent to the face lab at LSU to get a more accurate composite.
