The newspaper account states that Penny Doe was found on June 22, 1990 and not on July 22, 1990, according to Pennsylvania Trooper Rex Munsee. The coroner established that Penny Doe had been killed around April 1, 1990.

A CLOSER LOOK AT CASE # 246 UFPA 1990 – W – 15 to 40 yrs.
04SEP
CLARION COUNTY RESIDENTS SPEAK UP PLEASE She has been nicknamed “Penny Doe.” TELL US HER REAL NAME

WHO is this person?

This 15 to 40 year old white female was 4’10” to 5’0″, 105 to 120 lbs. with dark brown long (14″) hair. She may have come from an area with flouride in the water since her teeth had no fillings and no sign of decay. Despite the perfect condition of her teeth, there were several distinctive characteristics that could help to identify her: A tooth in the upper right side of her mouth was chipped, but it is unknown if the chip occurred before or after death. One front tooth was short and stubby compared to the same tooth on the other sign (unknown which tooth). She still had one of her upper baby teeth behind the adult tooth, i.e. the adult tooth had grown in but the baby tooth had not fallen out (unknown which tooth). She also had one upper tooth that was 90% rotated (unknown which tooth). An autopsy also showed the women’s right leg was broken.

WHAT was she wearing or was with her?

She was wearing Gitano Express jeans, Fruit of the Loom panties and shirt with attached floral vest made byStop Light of California. One penny in each jeans pocket. It is unknown if the pennies were left on purpose, or simply disregarded when her killer was emptying her pockets.

WHEN was she found and WHEN did she die?

She was found on July 22, 1990 with Estimated date of death is 6 to 8 weeks before discovery.

WHERE was she found?

She was found in Monroe, Pennsylvania.

HOW was she found and HOW did she die?

The victim was found lying face down in a stream bed by Road 535 in a remote area of Monroe Township by teenagers who were crossing under a railroad trestle looking for berries. They observed something lying in the stream which they thought was a deer, but upon further examination discovered it was a body. The area is approximately three miles south of I-80 and is not a well-traveled road.

Authorities are convinced there are individuals in Clarion County who had contact with the woman and can help state police identify her and help find her killer. They do not believe the woman is from the county or the immediate area, but believe she was brought to the area by a local individual. They also believe she was not in Clarion County long, at most a month, before she was killed.

On Sunday, May 27 – Memorial Day Weekend – about 5,100 people attended a day-long, outdoor rock concert about 15 miles from where Jane Doe was found. The concert, called Music Alley, featured rock bands The Stand; Down To The Wire; Lawyers, Guns & Money; B.E. Taylor and Cleveland. It was held on a farm only 5 minutes from Exit 6 of I-80 and drew crowds from Pittsburgh, Ohio and beyond. There are no indication that she attended the concert.

In the summer of 2002, authorities received an anonymous letter about the girl. Law Enforcement put out a plea, asking the author of letter contact them again, but the writer never responded.

Perhaps she had been brought to Clarion to work. The Pennsylvania State Police received a letter from an anonymous person in 2002. It gave additional information. The State Police won't release the contents of the letter.

Authorities did not believe that she was from the local area or Clarion County, but they did think it was likely that her killer was local because of the remote location where she was found and the nearby road is lightly traveled. However, there are railroad tracks nearby, so it is possible that the killer may have followed the tracks and found the area by chance.

In the summer of 2002, authorities received an anonymous letter about the girl. Law enforcement put out a plea, asking the author of the letter to contact them again, but the writer never responded.

Penny Doe had no evidence of tooth decay, yet she was in need of dental care for malocclusions, othodontics, and other reasons. The lack of decay could indicate that she came from an area where the drinking water was fluoridated. If Penny Doe was an Hispanic young woman, it's possible that she could have come from Chile, Guatemala, Guyana, Panama, or Peru.

Those pennies in her pockets were for luck.

https://www.thinkmoney.co.uk/news-advice/top-ten-money-superstitions-0-4220-0.htm

Fill your pockets
A wallet or purse makes for a lovely present – but be sure to put a coin or two in it if you want it to be a lucky gift too. This is a custom in many cultures, but particularly in Greece where there’s a firm belief that “money attracts money”. As long as you have just a couple of coins in your pockets you’ll never be penniless and you stand to make more – but it’s incredibly unlucky to have an empty wallet or bank account. Pretty good advice!

https://www.creditsesame.com/blog/s...10-money-superstitions-from-around-the-world/

According to the Greeks, money attracts more money, so it’s bad luck to completely empty your pockets, wallet, or bank account. When giving a wallet or purse, they consider it good luck to include a coin or two inside for the recipient.

England: In the UK, putting money in the pocket of new clothes is believed to bring good luck

The trestle isn't very high. I don't know why they refer to it as a trestle.
