Sheriff’s office investigates cold case from 1980

Jonnie Montalbo Sep 4, 2013

A forensic composite facial reconstruction created by Guillermo Padilla of the New Braunfels Police Department recreated the face of “John Doe” out of clay and shows what the man whose skeletal remains were found near a creek bank south of Blessing in 1980 may have looked like. Investigators are looking for leads to the man’s identity as this continues to be an open case.

Over thirty-three years have gone by since the skeletal remains of an unidentified male were found by two couples camping in a secluded creek bank three miles south of Blessing.

Although the case is still classified as unsolved, it continues to be an open investigation for the Matagorda County Sheriff’s Office, who is committed to bringing closure for an unknown family somewhere, who may still be in mourning

Description
Blessing is a census-designated place in Matagorda County, Texas, United States. Blessing had its start when the railroad finally was extended to that point, and first settlers accepted the name "Blessing" after their first choice of "Thank God" was deemed unsuitable by postal officials. Wikipedia
