The decomposed remains of an Hispanic woman were found on the beach, scavenged by coyotes, on October 10, 2012, on South Padre Island, Cameron County, Texas. The victim's body was likely exposed due to changes with water levels on the beach. The woman had been dead for one or more weeks before the discovery. The sand above the body had been "covered with lime," possibly to speed decomposition or plant growth, likely as a way to prevent the body from being found or identified.

Reconstruction of the South Padre Island Jane Doe

South Padre Island Jane Doe

The decomposed remains of a Hispanic woman were found on a beach, scavenged by coyotes, on October 10, 2012, in South Padre Island, Cameron County, Texas. The victim's body was likely exposed due to changes with water levels on the beach. The woman was dead about one to several week(s) before the discovery. The sand above the body had been "covered with lime," possibly to speed decomposition or plant growth, likely as a way to prevent the body from being found or identified. Her height was estimated to be four feet ten to five feet two inches tall and her weight at about 95 to 120 pounds. She was middle-aged, at approximately forty-two to fifty-five at the time of death. One or more of the female's limbs were not found with the body, as they were likely carried away by animals. A distinctive feature about the female was that she had tattoos in place of makeup on her eyebrows, eyelids and lips. Her ears had also been pierced. She was clothed, wearing a dark top, multicolored shorts with star decorations and bikini underwear, along with a sanitary pad. The woman's death is considered to be due to foul play and a "suspicious" white-colored "powder" was found on the face region.[26] Since her discovery, a three-dimensional reconstruction and a sketch have also been created of the victim

Cameron County Jane Doe

Cameron County Jane Doe was a middle-age woman found murdered in 2012.

Case
On October 10, 2012, a man walking on the north end of South Padre Island near an access area to the local beach noticed some coyotes feasting on something in the dunes. Once the man reached the dunes, he stumbled across a partially unearthed makeshift grave containing the body of a woman. She had been covered in lime, a substance often used to try and accelerate the decomposition of a body, though in truth it only slows the decomposition process. Immediately, the man contacted the authorities and reported his gruesome discovery.

It was immediately suspected that the unidentified woman had fallen victim to foul play due to the manner of her burial and the presence of lime. Since her discovery, the authorities have not released information on how she was murdered nor any leads on a possible killer.

Characteristics
Coarse black hair that went from straight to wavy and measured approximately 17 inches long.
    Pierced ears.
    Tattooed eyebrows.
    Her lips were tattooed red.

Clothing
'Paris Blues' brand darkly colored tank top (Size M).
Shorts with a plaid pattern in blue, green, and white (Size L/G 10/12). They were labeled as part of a two-piece girls sleepwear set under the brand 'Komar Kids'.
Red bikini underwear with the presence of a sanitary pad.

South Padre Island Jane Doe

On October 10, 2012, a man walking along the beach on South Padre Island, Texas, spotted some coyotes dining on something in the sand dunes. It turned out to be a woman’s body.

I never, ever want to be the one to discover something like that. Ewwww.

The gruesome discovery was located about 5 or 6 miles north of Beach Access 6. The poor guy who found it did the right thing and alerted deputies.

The body had only been there for a week or so. She’d been buried between the sand dunes and the shore, covered in lime. Obviously somebody was doing his best so she wouldn’t be found. He didn’t count on the coyotes and the tide.

According to authorities, the woman was likely white Hispanic. She stood about 5 feet tall and weighed 100 to 120 pounds — a small lady. She had coarse black hair about 17 inches long. Her age was between 43 and 55 years old.

Interestingly, the woman had had cosmetic tattooing done on her eyebrows, eyelids and lips. I hope that will ring some bells with people whose mom, sister, aunt or daughter is missing. She also had her ears pierced.

The body was found clothed. She was wearing a “Paris Blues” brand tank top – likely purple, size M. She had “Komar Kids” brand shorts with a blue, green and white plaid pattern and pink stars, size L/G 10/12. Her underwear was a pair of red bikini panties with a sanitary pad.

I can find no autopsy results, but the police have classified Jane Doe 10708 as a murder victim.

Authorities released a sketch of the woman (see above). It makes her look very young and very pretty. Unfortunately, nobody stepped forward to identify her.

In June 2013, Texas Rangers released a new facial reconstruction built upon the victim’s skull. Again there has been no positive outcome. And so, naturally, I just had to do my part and create my own version of Jane Doe 10708.

I figured, since the woman wasn’t very young, that maybe the problem is that the previous versions hadn’t added enough years to her face. Being an old broad myself, I know that crappy things happen with age — wrinkles, sagging, bags and jowls. You don’t keep the firm roundness and taut skin of your youth. You start to develop dark spots and sun damage. Your eyelids get heavy, and your neck ages too. As I say, crappy things happen.

Now you may argue that she’s not so old since she had a sanitary pad. To that I respond a lot of women use them for incontinence issues, and some women don’t reach menopause until their mid-50’s anyway.

Thus we come to my version of the victim. She’s sporting the cosmetic tattoos, plus the effects of getting older. I hope, hope, hope that somebody will now recognize her. She died in September or October 2012, so it’s not likely she’s been forgotten already. Maybe her family thinks she’s traveling or has moved, and haven’t reported her as missing yet.

If anybody has any clue about who this woman is, please contact the Office of the Cameron County JP (956) 427-8057. The listed case manager is Elizabeth Miller (956) 389-1956. The case number is OA12-137.

And if anybody has any clue as to the identity of the killer, please contact the police.

SAN ANTONIO - The FBI is hoping the public can help them solve the death of an unidentified woman who was found slain two years ago.

In October 2012, a woman's body was discovered buried in the sand on a South Padre Island beach.
The victim was discovered about 5.5 miles North of public Beach Access 6.

Investigators have run out of leads. In fact, they say they don't even know their victim's name.

FBI officials and Cameron County Sheriff's detectives are hoping a three-dimensional bust, created to give investigators and the public a better idea of what the woman looked before her death, will help them crack the case.

The face of the victim was essentially brought back from the dead by Texas Ranger forensic artist Jorge Molina using the unidentified woman's remains.

"In this case, I created a cast of the skull and then worked on top of the cast to create the three-dimensional facial reconstruction," Molina said. "This is something that is a last resort for investigators to try and use the public as a means to identify a victim in a homicide investigation."

Using crime scene photographs and details about the remains provided by forensic anthropologists, Molina is able to recreate the woman's face.

"A forensic anthropologist gives me a write-up as to the biological profile of the victim, indicating height, weight (and) ancestry, and then I use that information to create the facial reconstruction," Molina said. "This victim in particular is a Hispanic female between the ages of 42 to 55 and approximately 4 feet 10 inches (tall) to 5 feet 2 inches."

FBI Special Agent Michelle Lee said Jane Doe's body was discovered on Oct. 10, 2012, by someone walking on the beach. Her grave in the sand dunes had been disturbed coyotes.

"Her body was purposely buried by someone who was attempting to conceal it," Lee said describing the location where the body was discovered. "There aren't any markers, there aren't businesses or hotels. It is a very beautiful, picturesque natural area of the beach that is typically used for recreation and camping and is also used by bird-watchers."

Lee said the FBI was contacted by Cameron County investigators when all other leads had been exhausted.

Other than the clothes she was wearing and some unique facial features, investigators don't have much to work with.

"She was found wearing shorts with a blue plaid pattern and stars and a purple tank top," Lee said. "A unique feature was that she did have cosmetic tattoos, on her lips, her eyes and her eyebrows."

Investigators have distributed images of the facial reconstruction to Texas media outlets in the past without much luck. Now they plan to expand their reach by sending the pictures to media outlets across the country.

"It's possible that loved ones (who) are looking for her are not aware that she was discovered," Lee said. "There has to be a father, a mother, a child or children, a sister or brother -- someone out there that loved this woman is probably looking for her and what we'd like to do is return her remains to them so that she can have a dignified burial."

Investigators believe Jane Doe's body had been buried in the sand dunes for six to eight weeks before it was discovered, putting her time of death around the end of July or early August 2012.

If you have any information or tips you can call them in anonymously to the San Antonio FBI office or the Cameron County Sheriff's Office.
