East Troy John Doe

]The skeletal remains of a young man were discovered on October 11th 1979 in Walworth County Wisconsin. Law Enforcement, despite their best efforts, have been unable to identify him for the last 39 years. This coming October (2019) will mark the 40th anniversary of John Doe’s discovery.
DISCOVERY OF THE REMAINS:
On October 11, 1979, authorities received a call stating that skeletal remains were located in a cornfield near the Village of East Troy in Walworth County, Wisconsin. Once authorities arrived at the scene, they discovered the badly decomposed body of a young man. The remains were not recognizable.
John Doe had been wearing a white, sleeveless t-shirt, size M (38-40) along with a pair of cloth, tan pants (size 30-34.) The pants had a chord to adjust the waist therefore there were no belt loops. The Pants did have a zipper fly. While doing research, I have seen them called ‘Campus Concept No 2’ pants. John Doe was also wearing white sweat-socks, and Fruit of the Loom underwear (size 30.) The shoes John Doe had been wearing were somewhat unique. They were brown, wedge loafers (size 30) with significant wear on both heels.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION / EXAMINATION:
Once the remains of John Doe were recovered and transported back to the County Medical Examiner, authorities were able to conclude more information on who this individual was. It was determined John Doe was between the ages of 20 and 35 meaning he would have been born between 1947 and 1957. The post mortem interval was believed to be 4 months putting John Doe’s death around late June or early July of 1979. He was estimated to be 5’4” to 5’7” and 135 – 150lbs. John Doe had black or dark brown hair that was 4” long and slightly curly. His race is unknown but he has been ruled out as having been black. A cause of death could not be determined. John Does DNA and dental records are on file and routinely checked.
